Alexis Bledel

American actress Alexis Bledel was born on September 16, 1981, in Houston, Texas. Her mother Nanette is of Mexican origin and her father Martin was born in Argentina. Though Alexis was born in the USA, she spoke only Spanish and did not learn English until she began to go to school. She considers herself to be a Latina.

Being a shy child, Alexis was encouraged by her mother to join the community theater to become more self-confident. She appeared in productions of “Our Town” and “The Wizard of Oz”. Later, she worked as a model and attended Page Parkes Center for Modeling and Acting simultaneously with studying at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Alexis Bledel debuted on the screen in TV series “Gilmore Girls”. The role of Rory Gilmore made her popular both in America and abroad. She earned Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Drama Series – Leading Young Actress and Teen Choice Award. The actress made her feature film debut in “Tuck Everlasting” (2002). In 2005, Bledel starred in two successful movies: “Sin City” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”. She also played in “The Good Guy” (2009), “Post Grad” (2009) and “The Conspirator” (2010). In May 2009, Bledel signed a contract with the modeling division of IMG. In 2011 and 2012, she appeared on the stage in productions of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” and “Regrets”.

From 2002 to 2006, Alexis dated actor Milo Ventimiglia. Since 2014, she is married to actor Vincent Kartheiser.
