Diane Kruger

Actress Diane Kruger was born on July 15, 1976, in Algermissen, Germany, in the family of computer specialist Hans-Heinrich Heidkruger and bank employee Maria-Theresa. She has younger brother Stefan.

In childhood, Diane dreamt about becoming a ballerina and even, applied for the Royal Ballet School in London. However, she had to stop her dancing career after a serious injury. After that, she started to work as a model in France. She took part in advertising campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Burberry and Louis Vuitton and participated in Marc Jacobs, D&G and Sonia Rykiel’s fashion shows.

In 2002, Diane Kruger made her acting debut in “The Piano Player”. Her first major role was in “Mon Idole” (2002). In 2004, the actress got a worldwide recognition after playing in three successful movies : “Wicker Park”, “Troy” and “National Treasure”. Her other famous roles were in “Inglourious Basterds” (2009), “Mr. Nobody” (2009), “Unknown” (2011) and “The Host” (2013). In 2007, Diane was a hostess at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2008, was a jury member at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival. She was also a member of jury at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.

Kruger is the face of Swiss watch Jaeger-LeCoultre, L’Oreal and Calvin Klein’s fragrance line “Beauty”. Besides her native German, she fluently speaks English and French. In 2014, she became the Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

From 2001 to 2006, Diane was married to actor and director Guillaume Canet. Since 2006, she is in relationship with actor Joshua Jackson.
