Kate Winslet

English actress Kate Winslet was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading, Berkshire, to barmaid Sally Anne and swimming pool contractor Roger. She has two sisters and a brother.

At 11, Kate got interested in drama and started to attend the Redroofs Theatre School. At 12, she took part in “Sugar Puffs” cereal commercial. Being a teenager, she played in more than 20 performances at Starmaker school of drama. In 1990, the actress debuted in “Shrinks” TV series. She got her first feature film role in “Heavenly Creatures” in 1994, for which she gained an Empire Award and a London Film Critics’ Circle Award for British Actress of the Year. After playing in “Sense and Sensibility” (1995), the acterss got BAFTA and a Screen Actors’ Guild Awards and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. However, the real fame came to actress with the role in “Titanic” (1997). Her other most successful movies include “Iris” (2001), “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004), “Finding Neverland” (2004), “Little Children” (2006), “Revolutionary Road” (2008), “The Holiday” (2006) and “Divergent” series. Kate is the youngest person, who got six Academy Award nominations. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for “The Reader”. She is also one of the few actresses, who have won three of the four major American entertainment awards (Oscar, Emmy and Grammy).

Kate Winslet is also a singer. She made her singing debut while working at “Heavenly Creatures” and performed the soundtrack to the movie. She recorded songs for some other movies of hers.

From 1991 to 1995, Kate dated Stephen Tredre. In 1998, she got married to director Jim Threapleton though they separated in 2001. In 2000, she gave birth to their daughter Mia. In 2003, the actress got married to director Sam Mendes, a father of her son Joe. In 2010, the couple announced about their separation. In 2012, Winslet got married to Ned Rocknroll. In 2013, their son Bear was born.
