Katherine Heigl

American actress and producer Katherine Heigl was born on November 24, 1978, in West End, Washington, D.C. She is a daughter of personnel manager Nancy and financial executive Paul Heigl. She has German/Swiss-German and Irish roots.

At the age of 9, Katherine became a child model for Wilhelmina Models. She first appeared on TV in a commercial for Cheerios cereal. Later, she was a cover girl for such magazines as Maxim, Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan and often appeared in Seventeen. In 1992, she made her acting debut in “That Night” (1992). Her first leading role was in 1994 “My Father the Hero”. In 2005, Heigl was cast to “Grey’s Anatomy” TV series, where she played Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens. The role brought the actress fame and the world recognition. For this role she got Screen Actors Guild Award and Emmy Award as well as was nominated for Golden Globe. Katherine is also famous for her roles in such movies as “Knocked Up” (2007), “27 Dresses” (2008), “The Ugly Truth” (2009), “Killers” (2010), “Life As We Know It” (2010) and “New Year’s Eve” (2011). She also played in TV series “State of Affairs” (2014-2015).

Katherine Heigl also does a lot of charitable work. She cooperated with “Best Friends Animal Society”, co-founded “Heigl’s Hounds of Hope” and was chosen as a spokesperson for “Donate Life America”. In 2012, was honored by “Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI)” for her commitment to adoption and by American Cancer Society for her help to amplify the awareness of cancer.

Since 2007, Heigl is married to singer Josh Kelley. In 2009, they adopted a daughter, Naleigh, from South Korea. In 2012, they adopted their second daughter Adalaide .
