Kelly Clarkson

American singer Kelly Clarkson was born on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas. Her father is former engineer Stephen Michael Clarkson and her mother Jeanne Ann is an English teacher. She has brother Jason and sister Alyssa.

Clarkson studied at Pauline Hughes Middle School. In childhood, she dreamt about becoming a marine biologist. Once, a school’s choir teacher heard the girl singing and offered to join the school choir. While attending Burleson High School, Kelly took part in several school musicals. She got scholarships to the University of Texas at Austin, University of North Texas and Berklee College of Music, but refused from all the offers. In order to get money to record her songs, Kelly had to work at several jobs. In 2001, she moved to Los Angeles and played in episodes of “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” and “Dharma & Greg”. However, soon, the singer had to return to her home town, where she played in the theatre, sang at luna park “Six flags” and worked as a bartender.

In 2002, Kelly Clarkson was auditioned for TV show “American Idol: The Search for a Superstar”. As a result, she became a winner of the show. In 2003, she took part in “World Idol”, where the winners of the first seasons of the show from different countries competed. Kelly took the second place after Norwegian Kurt Nilsen. In 2003, she signed a contract with RCA Records and released her first album “Thankful”, which was certified gold by the RIAA. Her single “Miss Independent” brought her the first Grammy Award nomination for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance”.

In 2004, the singer released her second album “Breakaway”, which is her most successful album to date. It was certified platinum by the RIAA 6 times and got Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance award (for song “Since U Been Gone”). In 2013, her album “Stronger” also received the Best Pop Vocal Album award.

Since 2013, Kelly is married to Brandon Blackstock. They have a daughter, River Rose Blackstock. In 2015, the couple announced that they are expecting a son.
