Rihanna

Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) was born on February 10, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Her father Ronald is a warehouse supervisor and her mother Monica is a former accountant. The singer has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad. She combines Afro-Guyanese, Barbadian and Irish descent.

Rihanna started to sing at the age of 7 and later created a musical trio with her classmates. She was also an army cadet in a sub-military programme. In 2003, she got acquainted with producer Evan Rogers, who offered her to record some demo tapes. In 2005, Rihanna signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings. The same year, she released her first single “Pon de Replay” and debut album “Music of the Sun”, which got a gold certification from RIAA. In 2006, “A Girl Like Me” album was presented. Its singles “SOS” and “Unfaithful” were an international success. Her song “Umbrella” from “Good Girl Gone Bad” album became the longest-running number one single in Britain since Wet Wet Wet’s single “Love Is All Around” and one of the best-selling singles worldwide. “Good Girl Gone Bad: The Remixes” (2009) is the singer’s best-selling album to date.

Rihanna got many prestigious music awards, including 9 American Music Awards, 14 Billboard Music Awards, 8 Grammies, 4 World Music Awards. She was also listed in the Guinness World Records for five times and became a female artist with the most U.S. number-one singles in a year in 2010 and the best selling digital artist (U.S.) in 2012.

In 2012, Rihanna played in “Battleship” movie and in 2015, she voiced Gratuity “Tip” Tucci for “Home” animated film. She also appeared in cameo roles in “Bring It On 3: All or Nothing” and “The End of the World”.

In 2008-2009, the singer was in relationship with Chris Brown. From 2009 to 2010, she dated baseball player Matt Kemp. In 2013, she reconciled with Chris Brown, but the same year they broke up.
