‘American History X’ Director Tony Kaye to Helm ‘Civil,’ a Drama About Racial Justice

When it comes to contemporary American auteurs, there are few who have as wild and incendiary a career as Tony Kaye.

Known for iconic music videos from artists like Johnny Cash, Roger Waters, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kaye broke through in a major way with 1998’s American History X, a provocative film about a reformed neo-Nazi played by Edward Norton.
