A long-gestating project based on a true story is finally coming to fruition.
The True American first hit our radar in 2014, when Annapurna Pictures won the rights to the Anand Giridharadas’ nonfiction book of the same name and attached Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow to take the helm with Tom Hardy starring.But when Bigelow solidified Detroit as her next film, that left The True American in limbo a bit.
