Antoine Fuqua in talks to return to the Scarface remake

Almost a year after he vacated the director’s chair to concentrate on The Equalizer 2, it seems that Antoine Fuqua could once again be set to board the long-gestating Scarface remake.According to Deadline, Fuqua is in early talks with Universal Pictures to rejoin the project, which was originally slated for release in August 2018, but is now undated as the studio looks to get things back on track.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Diego Luna had been cast in the lead role of an immigrant who rises through the ranks of the underworld, this time in contemporary Los Angeles.

However, given the current circumstances, Luna’s involvement is now uncertain due to potential scheduling issues.Fuqua was originally attached to Scarface when the project was first announced, and was succeeded by David Ayer (Suicide Squad) last year, only for Ayer to exit due to his commitments to the Netflix movie Bright.
