“Black Panther” has made a bright start on top of the box office, as it heads into Chinese multiplexes.
That should help allay fears that Chinese audiences are cool towards black-themed movies.By midday Friday, the Disney-Marvel Comic Universe film had grossed $9.87 million (RMB62.7 million), according to data from China Box Office.
At that early stage, “Black Panther” accounted for 60% of Friday’s gross revenues, ahead of big budget patriotic documentary “Amazing China” in second place with 19%.
