Cannes Provides the Best Films and the Worst Box Office — 2022 Could Change That

After the Cannes cancellation of 2020 and the delay of 2021, the 2022 Official Selection reflects a return to normal: a balance of class (potential for high quality) and crass (potentially strong financial afterlife).

Last year was another story: Cannes produced an excellent lineup that American audiences largely ignored.Much of that came down to timing.
