Emmy campaigning is now practically a year-round event, just as the explosion in original content for cable and streaming media has permanently altered the traditional television calendar.
More series and longform events are being held until April and May, in order to make it to Emmy eligibility and be top of mind as voting begins.
Networks also now find that they can combo their tune-in and Emmy campaigns into one, allowing for one marketing exercise to support the other.Then there’s the explosion in For Your Consideration events, as Television Academy members could, if they wanted to, attend a screening and panel discussion (and yes, they’re usually catered) almost every night of the week through April, May and June.
