The Alien series is built around one of the greatest movie heroines of all time: Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver.
In the 2010s, “Alien” creator Ridley Scott, the alpha and omega of Alien directors, tried to fill Weaver’s space boots with the likes of Noomi Rapace and Katherine Waterston.
Their characters were like Ripley’s surrogate daughters.
And yet, more than 40 years after the debut of “Alien,” Weaver is still the face of the series.
She anchored the first four films.
