The final episode of the first season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” — titled “A Quality of Mercy” — ran a “What If…?” scenario that put Captain Pike (Anson Mount) in the Enterprise’s captain’s chair during the events of the original series episode “Balance of Terror.” In this parallel universe (provided by some handy-dandy Klingon time crystals) Pike was also allowed to meet Captain Kirk (Paul Wesley), who was captain of a ship called the U.S.S.
Farragut.
Pike and Kirk were not only able to converse, but Trekkies also received the opportunity to juxtapose the two men’s command styles.
