Judd Apatow ‘Always Wanted’ to Make ‘Superbad 2,’ Disagrees With Cast’s Reason for Turning It Down
Judd Apatow tried hard to get his “Superbad” cast to return for a sequel, but no one was interested in ruining a great thing.
It turns out that’s not an excuse Apatow ever agreed with.
From the way Apatow sees it, there’s no reason to think the cast and crew behind one of the most classic R-rated high school comedies of the 21st century wouldn’t be able to come up with and execute a worthy sequel.“Eeryone was like, ‘Nah we don’t want to screw up ‘Superbad’ by accidentally making a crappy second one,’” Apatow recently said on the “Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum” podcast (via IndieWire).
