Olga Kurylenko to Play Hedy Lamarr in ‘Radiant’

Olga Kurylenko is set to play 1940s star Hedy Lamarr in drama ‘Radiant.’The star of ‘Oblivion‘ and ‘Quantum of Solace‘ will portray the movie star in the upcoming feature, directed by Mark Steven Johnson, according to sources close to the production.The movie centers on the unlikely friendship between Lamarr and radical composer George Antheil.

Despite their high-profile entertainment personas, the duo developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes in 1941, which paved the way for modern communications such as GPS and Wi-Fi technology.The casting of Antheil has yet to be announced.Lamarr, who starred in a string of 1940s hits such as ‘Samson and Delilah,’ has had a recent resurgence of interest.There was the well-received documentary ‘Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story,’ which charted her life as a Hollywood star as well as a genius inventor, while Gal Gadot was recently announced as the lead of Showtime series “Hedy Lamarr.”Kurylenko is understood to have been in the running for the role on Wonder Woman in ‘Justice League,’ a role that ultimately went to Gadot.’Radiant’ is based on Antheil’s autobiography, “Bad Boy of Music,” with a screenplay by Reinhard Denke.Previous films by director Johnson include superhero movies ‘Daredevil‘ and ‘Ghost Rider.’
