R.I.P. Oscar Nominated Composer Jóhann Jóhannsson (1969-2018)

Two time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner for his work on “The Theory Of Everything,” acclaimed composer Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away on Friday at the age of 48.Born and raised and Iceland, Jóhannsson’s early musical path found him playing in indie rock bands, later turning to a more experimental approach that saw him dive into collaborations with artists from across genres.

In 2000, Jóhannsson earned his first composer’s credit on a film with “The Icelandic Dream.” He would continue to contribute to a variety of projects — documentaries, short films, features — while also releasing solo albums under his own name.
