A year after “Big Little Lies,” HBO is offering a first glimpse at their latest attempt at turning a runaway literary success into TV gold.
The network released the initial teaser for “Sharp Objects,” the upcoming miniseries that will try to follow in the big footsteps of some recent crime classics.“Sharp Objects” stars Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a crime reporter recovering from a recent stint at a psychiatric center.
Trying to move past her own personal traumas, she dives headlong into investigating the murder of two children.
In the process, she has to confront even more of her own past, including the watchful eye of her mother Adora (Patricia Clarkson).True to form for director Jean-Marc Vallée, this sneak peek is more atmospheric than anything.
But judging by the menacing glances, eerie music, and dramatic mirror shots, Camille’s investigation is set to be anything but a pleasant one.
