The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Star Wars,” “Harry Potter,” and “Transformers,” among many others, has forced studios to try and do whatever they can to get a leg-up on the competition with recognizable IP that can generate several sequels, if not a whole universe.
Sometimes this works out unexpectedly well, such as with “The Conjuring” universe.
