One is the more well-known celebrity name such as Bill Hader, Awkwafina, or Lena Headey, will the other is a name that’s probably not as familiar outside of puppeteering circles.
IndieWire spoke to “Game of Thrones” alum Nathalie Emmanuel and puppeteer/actress Beccy Henderson to understand the contributions of each performer to the Gelfling known as Deet.In “Age of Resistance,” Deet is Gelfling of the Grottan clan who lives underground in caves and cares for animals.
She learns of a sickness in the Crystal of Truth called the Darkening that is infecting all the living things in Thra, and she sets out to put a stop to its source: the Skeksis.
To play the cute but heroic Gelfling, casting went with a relatively unknown puppeteer.
