Arguably the smartest thing about Joe Cornish’s delightful new movie The Kid Who Would Be King is that while others have simply tried straight remakes of the familiar legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, Cornish’s film opens the tale up, repurposes it for the present day and modern conflict, and in doing so crafts a story that’s thoughtful, funny, cute, and charming for both kids and adults.
