The option has been available since 2018, say organizers, but the uptake of English subtitles has skyrocketed this year.The shift is evident in this year’s official program, which details the subtitles on offer for every movie.
Almost all competition and major English-language titles playing this year have English subtitles.The argument is that English subtitles are helpful for non-English native speakers.
