William Jackson Harper Says President Trump’s Executive Order Scared Cadets From Discussing ‘Malcolm X’

The Good Place” star William Jackson Harper took to social media on Monday to share why he doesn’t support President Donald Trump’s recent “Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping” executive order.In a lengthy statement posted to both his Twitter and Instagram, Harper explained that he was meant to make an appearance at a virtual event for Arts in the Armed Forces, for which he selected a movie to screen.

According to Harper, he gave the organization three options to choose from: Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey,” Orson Welles’ “Citizen Kane” or Spike Lee’s “Malcom X.” “Malcom X” was the selected film.However, two days before, Harper was told that students at military academies had dropped out of the event because they were afraid of violating Trump’s recent executive order.
