English actress Gemma Arterton was born on February 2, 1986, in Gravesend, Kent. Her father is a welder and her mother is a cleaner. The actress has a sister, Hannah Arterton, who is also an actress. When Gemma was born, she had polydactyly and that’s why her sixth digits were removed.

She attended Gravesend Grammar School for Girls in Kent, where she made her stage debut in amateur performance “The Boy Who Fell into a Book”. At 16, the girl moved to Dartford to study at the Miskin Theatre School. She also received a grant to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, from which she graduated in 2008.

Gemma’s first professional role was the one in “Capturing Mary” movie in 2007. Just the same year, the actress debuted in Shakespeare’s play “Love’s Labour’s Lost” at the Globe Theatre. You can also see Gemma in such movies as “Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Clash of the Titans” (2010), “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” (2010), “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” (2013).

After appearing in “Quantum of Solace”, Arterton received Empire Award for Best Newcomer and became the face of Bond Girl 007 fragrance by Avon.

In 2010 she married fashion consultant Stefano Catelli, however, the couple separated in 3 years.
