Golshifteh Farahani

Iranian actress, musician and singer Golshifteh Farahani was born on July 10, 1983, in Tehran to  theater director and actor Behzad Farahani and his wife Fahimeh Rahim Nia. Golshifteh has sister Shaghayegh, who is also an actress.

Being 5 years old, the girl started to take music lessons and soon, became a pupil of a music school.

Farahani played her first role at the age of 14 in “The Pear Tree” and even managed to win a Fajr International Film Festival Award as a Best Actress from International Section for it. Though, Golshifteh have played only in about 25 movies, many of them got good critics’ reviews. You can see the actress in such movies as “Boutique” (2003), “Santouri”, “Half Moon”, “M for Mother”, “The Patience Stone” (2012), “Just Like a Woman” (2012), “Exodus: Gods and Kings” (2014). At the moment, she takes part in shooting of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.

After Golshifteh’s posing nude for “Madame Figaro”, the Iran authorities claimed that their country didn’t need such an actress. Now, the actress lives in Paris.

Among the awards, received by Golshifteh Farahani are House of Cinema Festival Award (2004), Kazan International Film Festival Award(2006), Roshd International Film Festival Award (2007) and Kowsar Film Festival Award (2007) for Best Actress.
