HBO’s “House of the Dragon” has a premiere date — and several new images.The “Game of Thrones” prequel series debuts Sunday, August 21 on HBO and will stream on HBO Max.The series is based on George R.R.

Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” and set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” It tells the story of House Targaryen.HBO released new character descriptions on Wednesday, as well:Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal.
