“Green Book,” directed by Peter Farrelly, has won Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards.
It’s the expected culmination of an awards season that the Universal Pictures release, about the relationship between jazz artist Doctor Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and his driver Tony “Lip” Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), has largely dominated.
It won Best Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and took the top prize at the Producers Guild Awards.Farrelly’s film won three Oscars on the night, including Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali and Best Original Screenplay.
Despite the Globes and PGA wins, a rocky awards season campaign suggested that “Green Book” might falter before Oscar night.
