Melissa McCarthy’s ‘Life of the Party’ Rages Ahead of ‘Breaking In’ at Thursday Box Office

Melissa McCarthy’s “Life of the Party” grossed $700,000 in previews last night, while Gabrielle Union’s “Breaking In” scored $615,000 at the Thursday box office.“Life of the Party” stars McCarthy as a recently divorced mother who decides to go back to college to finish her degree…at the same school that her daughter (Molly Gordon) is attending.

The film is rated PG-13 to be more friendly to mother-daughter audiences, whom WB is hoping will turn out on Mother’s Day weekend.
