‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ Rising Up Tom Cruise Box Office Records

The latest installment of the ‘Mission: Impossible‘ franchise has only been in U.S.

theaters for a week but is already proving one of Tom Cruise’s biggest box-office hits.The sixth part of the spy thriller series took $61.2 million on its opening weekend, setting a new record for the franchise in which Cruise plays secret agent Ethan Hunt.As of Aug.

1, ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘ had reached $83.9 million in domestic box office and $200 million worldwide.But it is already in Cruise’s top 20 domestic box-office performances of his career, after just a week in theaters.It has buried ‘The Mummy,’ which grossed $80.2 million in 2017, and outgunned ‘Jack Reacher,’ which made $80.1 million in 2012.

It has also surpassed older Cruise movies such as ‘Cocktail,’ which took $78.2 million in 1988, and ‘Days of Thunder,’ which raced to $82.7 million in 1990.’Mission: Impossible’ movies comprise four of the top five box-office hits for Cruise.

But the movie star’s No.
