There is a distinct underlying theme throughout the newly released summer blockbuster biopic Oppenheimer about whether the father of the atomic bomb and titular character (Cillian Murphy) was ever an actual member of the Communist Party.
It is leveraged heavily in the movie that he was, at the very least, a not-so-subtle sympathizer with the movement that was gaining steam in the Soviet Union at the same time during the 1940s.
