Mike White’s return to television is inching closer.
The filmmaker is slated to return to HBO via “The White Lotus,” which will premiere on HBO in July.“The White Lotus” will mark White’s reunion with HBO following “Enlightened,” his two-season comedy series that was canceled by the premium cabler in 2013.
Since then, White has written scripts for “Beatriz at Dinner,” “The Emoji Movie,” “Pitch Perfect 3,” and the most recent Disney+ feature “The One and Only Ivan.” He also contributed to the “School of Rock” TV series that ran from 2016 to 2018.Amid the pandemic, “The White Lotus” was filmed in Hawaii under strict health and safety guidelines.“It’s beyond exciting to return to HBO with this project and such an incredible cast,” White said in a statement last year.
