A television series finale, by and large, falls into one of three categories.
There are those where the creative team delivers a heartfelt “thank you” for the time the fans have invested by delivering a finale that sends the series out on a high, like Friends, M*A*S*H*, or Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
There are series finales that are alright, like The Walking Dead, or so divisive that the average of fan reactions lands smack dab in the middle, a la Seinfeld or The Sopranos.
The final category is those finales that give the fans a big royal bird, ending the show by leaving a sour taste that, in some cases, taints the entire run of the show with just how awful the finale is.
