Here’s What Ben Affleck Could Bring to the Dcu as a Director

The DC Extended Universe, along with its parent company, Warner Bros, experienced a tumultuous 2022, from canceled projects, mixed reception of tent-pole releases, notably Black Adam, and massive executive changeover.

2023 has fared even worse for the company, as both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash both greatly underperformed at the box office and received a disappointing critical response.

What looked to be the lone bright spot in the midst of their creative and financial turmoil was the announcement that, along with Peter Safran, James Gunn would be in charge of DC Studios, overseeing all future studio productions.

However, this overhaul in the corporate power dynamic of DC, announced last October, has currently failed to meet audience expectations.

In the past, Gunn has expressed interest in getting the Zack Snyder-verse’s Batman, Ben Affleck​​​​​​, in the director’s chair.

Despite their woes, this move has the capability of breaking DC out of its rut.
